New building California Academy of Sciences was designed by Italian architect Renzo Piano. The building literally has opened one of these days for visitors.

The building structure in many parts is transparent, visually uniting with Gold Park it is completely not similar to the traditional concept of a museum, with blank walls and the blacked out premises. Necessary degree of blackout manages to be created thanks to a canopy on which solar panels are placed.

Ecological stability of a building became key aspect for designers

In a building two walls of the previous building, construction of 1934 are kept. In the project the planetarium, tropical wood and an aquarium, some expositions for several collections of Academy has lodged.

The planetarium and sphere in which the microclimate of tropical wood is created, are placed in two big spheres which roof is outside covered by greens. Visitors can even walk on this artificial landscape, the truth, only on a certain footpath.

From green counters are used: circular system of heating; a roof as an insulator and a heater; use of high-quality glass for facades.
